[Dingo FreeStyle: iKON Killing Verse] They totally killed it!

June 2, 2022. Youtube Channel, Dingo Freestyle uploaded iKon's Killing Verse Vol. 2 -- the boys came out in their black outfits and showed the world what they do best – LIVE singing.

The video opened with eldest member Jinhwan leading their intro.  The medley started with “Long Time No See” from their album Return (2018) -- from 2018 to this video, I could say his voice just keeps getting better. From that tiny tone he had from his WIN days to bringing in the husky texture which would give goosebumps to anyone who hears it.  The song finished with Junhoe's seconding falsetto and Chanwoo’s sweet voice.

They continued with the songs from Welcome Back album (2015), Bobby’s intro for “My Type” highlighted his unique live singing plus Junhoe and Jinhwan’s perfect harmonization.  Yunhyeong brought his clean voice with Airplane and again the duo, Jinhwan and Junhoe’s breathtaking style. Then there’s Sinosijak, one of the hype songs you cannot resist jamming to while Bobby’s shows us his effortless swag.

Moving on to Rhythm Ta, which --- DAMN DK! --- what has this been kid eating the past few years? DK looked exceptionally H O T especially that “오늘밤은 ready to die yeah” line delivery! Then it transitioned to iKon's signature color song, Bling Bling with maknae Chanwoo’s clear diction on his verse, and not to mention the hyungs hyping him up is so cute!

The group's hit song Love Scenario was opened by Jinhwan with layers of second voicing and ad-libs from Bobby, Yunhyeong, and DK, and it was of course finished by Junhoe's amazing vocals. Next up was Beautiful AND Bobby's rap is just as beautiful! Fans probably remember this song on a funny note given how the group created the music video for it during iKON TV -- but in this arrangement with Killing Verse -- it made me feel like surfing some waves!

DK killed it in Killing Me (New Kids: Continue 2018) -- If you have followed the group from when they were starting from WIN to MIX&MATCH you would know how much of a glow-up DK has been through. From his singing style, tone, dancing, and his now very obvious sexiness.

Goodbye Road’s lyrics makes me wanna cry, that “Don't be in pain like you were next to me” is killing me as much as the duo’s (Jinhwan and June) falsetto-husky voices are killing it.

The next 1.5mins (more or less) of the video featured the last 2 songs from their old albums ---- Adore YouI’m OK.  The former being so perfect for DK's harana voice and the latter featuring ultimate hype vibes from Bobby and Yunghyeong.

The last 4 mins of the video were dedicated to songs from their most recent comeback FLASHBACK

Bobby and his bubbly self introduced and sang "For Real" with DK taking over on the chorus. My bestfriend and I have always been mesmerized by non-english native kpop singers who enunciate so well and DK is on point with those english lines!

"Name" is such a heartfelt ballad and every note they sing would give you some sort of flashback (see what I did there?) of a love that once was.  This song had so much feels and what specifically stood out for me is Bobby’s follow-through with that low note. His singing voice sounds so good that it would make you close your eyes and just reel in that emotion that the song gives you.

And finally, their title track But You.  A lot of people say that it's a bit different from how iKON usually sounds.  While that might be true, I actually think it's still close to the formula of "Love Scenario."  It has that groovy 80's vibe with a signature iKON hook. The difference in arrangement from the CD version to this in Killing Verse truly showed how versatile they can be. In this live version, highlighting Bobby’s rap change --  because it's just something he does perfectly well.  June’s falsetto telling us “this is how you do it.”  DK’s bridge hypnotizing you. Jinhwan and Chanwoo’s low and high notes --- clean. And Yunhyeong’s "ooohhhhss" ends it perfectly.

This Killing Verse episode is probably one of their best video performances.  If you have been following them from the start, I think you would agree with me when I say that their voice quality has improved and evolved so much!  Also, whoever did the order, arrangement, cuts, and transitions of this whole performance deserves a raise!
