KPOP Masterz 2 Ticket Selling: Most organized camp-out experience!

On August 24, KPOP Masterz 2 lineup was revealed and so were the ticket selling dates.  The three fandoms -- iKONICS (iKON), ATINYS (Ateez) and Ahgases (Youngjae, GOT7) immediately organized Twitter spaces to discuss and plan for camp out activities.

Since this is my first time watching iKON, I joined the spaces to be aware of how they do things. I was torned between camping out at Araneta Coliseum or SM Marikina, considering the Twitter space discussions.

For no specific reason, I decided to go to Araneta. Days before the campout date,  a Twitter and Telegram group chat was created for those camping out in Araneta Coliseum. Admins announced that they will be accommodating campers at exactly 1pm on September 2, and posted guidelines for the campout.

During the previous campouts that I've been to (SVT Campout, SS9 Ticket Selling and B.I Offline Campout), we go to the ticket-selling venue the night before or 12 hours before the selling time. But this time, the organizers said they'll be there as early as 7am on September 2.  Naturally,  I was shocked and I had to regroup with my friends as to how we go about this schedule.

The night before the campout day, it has been agreed upon that the queuing will be determined by taking a photo of the yellow gate (ticketing booth) and send to the telegram group chat for timestamping, being a baby iKONIC, I don't know what will happen and didn't expect much since this is a multi-fandom group chat. Someone arrived as early as 4:58AM (queue #1), followed by the rest from 5:30 AM onwards. I arrived at 8:19AM and got queue #19.

Timestamping (taking a photo of the yellow gate) every hour before the 1pm schedule, was also required to make sure of attendance and to be fair to those who were staying. At 12:45PM they asked the campers to fall in line for the queuing number. Each camper's phone was checked for the timestamping proofs before they get recorded for their queue number. To be fair and something very commendable was that  admins aren't automatically first in line just because they are the ones organizing. They too timestamped and followed the guidelines in getting their slots.

After everyone is done, the queueing list was sent to the group chat for everyone's record. A roll call every 2 hours for attendance was also done, if you missed the roll call hour (with 15 minutes grace period) you will go down 3 slots, again, to be fair to those who stayed. After the last roll call at 9pm, campers were to leave the premises and come back at 6am on September 3rd. There were final reminders such as the time to go back, where they will be, sending live locations so you can be found and not miss your queue, and whatnot.  More than that, the organizers shared a list of 24hour establishments in the area to make sure everyone will have a safe space to stay in while waiting for the 6am roll call.  As for me, I had to go home first.

Weather wasn't on our side the morning after.  My place isn't really accessible and it was hard to book Angkas (motorcycles for hire) I started booking at 4AM and finally got a ride around passed 5AM.  Given the weather and the traffic and my best friend also waking up late, we arrived about 20 mins later than the time allotted for the roll call and we were both down 3 slots in the line.  It was sad, but it was understandable.

Our day went on sitting on the floor, drinking coffee, and bonding with the other campers. As soon as the ticketing office opened at around 9AM, organizers were constantly fixing the line to give way to the PBA ticket buyers.  The tickets for Kpop Masterz 2 in Manila were set to be on sale at 12nn.  Prior to that, there were still a few issues on how many counters will be opened, how the line would be separated for the PBA ticket buyers, etc.  The organizers, in behalf of all the anxious ticket buyers went on to talk to the guards and the ticketing office to fix this.  Just a few minutes before 12 noon -- 3 counters were opened and a separate lane for PWD and Senior Citizens was opened as well.

At exactly 12:00NN, the firsts in line are already at the counters and it was a whole new experience for me.  Fans were cheering, giggling and getting their phones ready to take a video of what's about to happen when tickets drop.  A few seconds later, the first ticket has been secure and already being printed. Queue #1, shouted with tears of joy as she held her physical ticket. It is her first time seeing iKON and her first ever concert to attend. Everybody cheered for her and everyone else who has secured their tickets, as if we are all in one fandom. Minute after minute, campers and online buyers were securing their tickets and people would clap and cheer every time.

Queue #12 secured her ticket online while waiting for her turn in the counter.  She then turned over her queue number to me and I handed mine to another camper.  Mind you, we were all from different fandoms, but the amount of "helping each other out" moments during the ticket selling was just heartwarming.  I was anxious because this is the very first time that the tita in me wants to aim for barricade. And every concert goer knows that having a good queueing number is extremely dependent on what time you purchase your ticket.

When I got to the counter, I was with the teller that was observed to be slower than the others. My anxiety reached its peak when she couldn't get my email address right and wouldn't process the ticket until she finished counting the money I gave her.

After confirming the cash, she processed and printed the tickets already, and I could finally breathe easy again. I was almost crying when I held the tickets in my hands and approached my best friend -- THIS WAS FINALLY IT. WE ARE GOING TO SEE iKON! Us, baby iKONics who just started stanning them about 2 months ago are seeing them LIVE.

The venue was filled with happiness, whichever fandom you're in, everyone's just genuinely happy for everyone.

---

I was prepared for the worst since it was 3 different fandoms vying for the best seat.  And I've had bad experiences with the previous campouts I've been in -- but surprisingly, this is the most organized and most peaceful camp out I've been in.  Good job to all the organizers!

See you all on the September 23!
